Nicky Roote - BSc Physiotherapy (Hons) UCT
As a UCT graduate in 1994, I began ten years of travelling and working – in paediatric physiotherapy in Florida (USA), orthopaedics in the NHI (UK) and in a top sports and orthopaedic practice in PE, before opening my own practice in 2005. I love my work – I derive enormous satisfaction on a daily basis from the people I meet and care for. I have served as a member on the National Executive Committee and the Eastern Cape committee of the SA Society of Physiotherapy where I remain involved. I take part in outreaches to the public during our national “Physiotherapy Back Week” campaign and assist regularly with physio services at sports events under the SASP banner. My practice is involved in several Social Responsibility projects. After not being particularity sporty at school I have developed a love for it, enjoying the physical and mental challenges it provides. My biggest sporting challenge to date was paddling the “Southern Shamaal” in 2010, a grueling four day surfski race which involves paddling the 250km from Port Elizabeth to East London. |
Annemie Erasmus - BSc Physiotherapy (Hons) US
I graduated from the University of Stellenbosch in 2010. After doing my community service in Cradock, I completed my post graduate diploma in Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy (OMT) in 2013. I then furthered my studies, completing my Masters degree also through the University of Stellenbosch in 2021. My study focussed on amputees and the information that they receive during the rehabilitation process and if it is sufficient for them to adjust to the new way of doing things. Being a sports person myself, (MTB, cycling, squash and running) I understand what sport means to a person and how injuries affect you. My goal is to get every patient back to their sport or work as soon as possible. Working in private practice for the past 10 years has given me experience and a special interest in sports injuries, musculoskeletal problems, orthopaedic pain and the rehabilitation of people with amputations to assist them with returning to their previous level of activity. |
Karissa Grant - BSc Physiotherapy (Hons) US
After graduating from the University of Stellenbosch in 2014, I spent two years working as part of a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team in the rural surroundings of Nelson Mandela Bay. Since then I have worked in private practice. I have a keen interest in Neuromuscular conditions and sports rehabilitation. Having done my advanced STOTT pilates training in 2020, I love to incorporate mobility and strength into my treatment sessions. In my free time you will find me running, cooking or travelling. |
